This site collects as little personal information as possible. It has no advertising, no advertising trackers, no data brokers, and no accounts to create. This page describes what is collected, why, and how to have it removed.

This policy covers peterango.com. It does not cover external sites linked from here, which have their own policies.

Information you choose to send

If you use the contact form, the name, email address, and message you enter are emailed to pete@peterango.com so the message can be answered. This site does not collect newsletter signups itself: the newsletter link sends you to Substack, which collects and stores your address under its own privacy policy. Nothing you submit through this site is sold, rented, or shared for advertising.

Third-party services used by this site

  • Vercel hosts the site and processes standard server request logs, including IP address and user agent.
  • Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights collect aggregate, privacy-preserving traffic and performance measurements. They do not use cookies to identify you individually.
  • Google reCAPTCHA v3 scores contact form submissions to block automated spam, and is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
  • Resend delivers contact form submissions to Pete's inbox.
  • Substack hosts the Culture Mutt newsletter. Subscribing happens on Substack, not on this site, and is covered by Substack's privacy policy.
  • OpenAI processes messages you type into the KIO chat assistant in order to generate replies. Do not enter sensitive personal information into the chat.
  • Supabase provides backend data storage for parts of the site.

Cookies and local storage

This site does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Your light or dark theme preference is stored in your browser local storage so the site can remember it between visits. That value never leaves your device. Google reCAPTCHA may set its own cookies as part of its abuse-prevention scoring.

Data retention and your rights

Contact form messages are retained in email for as long as they are useful for correspondence. Newsletter subscriptions live in Substack and can be cancelled from the unsubscribe link in any issue or from your Substack account settings.

You can request a copy of the personal information associated with you, ask for corrections, or ask for deletion by emailing pete@peterango.com. Requests are honored within a reasonable period. Because this site does not create user accounts, the data associated with any individual is typically limited to email correspondence and newsletter status.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has submitted information, email pete@peterango.com and it will be deleted.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be posted at https://peterango.com/privacy. Questions about this policy can be sent to pete@peterango.com.
